Game #57: Rockford at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners will wrap up their weekend series with the Rockford IceHogs Saturday night, after picking up a standings point in the series opener. Tucson will look to extend their unbeaten streak to four games in the rematch with the Chicago Blackhawks AHL affiliate. Saturday’s game is Autism Acceptance Night at the Tucson Arena, presented by Pizza Hut. The first 1,000 fans will receive a sensory pop pad, and Roadrunners Mascot Dusty will leave his cowbell and drum at home in favor of a quieter game atmosphere.

Game Recap: Rockford (4) at Tucson (3) (OT)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners returned home to begin the month of April with a weekend series against the Rockford Ice Hogs. In Friday night’s series opener, Tucson overcame a late 3-2 deficit to force overtime and earn a standings point against the Chicago Blackhawks AHL affiliate. Stephen Harper netted his first AHL goal, while Colin Theisen (2) and Terry Broadhurst (7) added to their goal totals later in the contest. Ivan Prosvetov made his 16th consecutive appearance for the Roadrunners, as he stopped 30 shots on goal.

Game #56: Rockford at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners return home to open the month of April with four games in six days at the Tucson Arena. The stretch begins Friday night with the first of back-to-back matchups with the Rockford IceHogs, AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. The pair of contests mark the first meetings with Rockford since the 2018-2019 season and first trip to Southern Arizona for the IceHogs since October 19 and 20 of 2018. Friday’s game is also the final El Lazo de Tucson Night of the season, as the Roadrunners will don their alternate identity celebrating Tucson’s rich heritage and culture.

Game Recap: Tucson (3) at Henderson (1)

Las Vegas, Nevada – The Tucson Roadrunners concluded their weekend series against the Henderson Silver Knights Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. After Ben McCartney got the Roadrunners on the board 13 minutes into the contest, Tucson led the rest of way to sweep the Silver Knights in their final two meetings of the season. The Roadrunners penalty-kill finished the night a perfect seven-for-seven against the Henderson power-play. Ivan Prosvetov started in net for Tucson and stopped 32 of 33 shots faced for his best save percentage since March 5 in Bakersfield. Prosvetov was taken out for the latter half of the first period after sustaining an injury from a high stick but returned for the final 40 minutes of play. David Tendeck filled in for Prosvetov during the opening frame and turned all four shots faced aside.

Game #55: Tucson at Henderson

The Tucson Roadrunners conclude their season series against the Henderson Silver Knights Saturday afternoon, with a matinee matchup at the Orleans Arena beginning at 3 p.m. MST. Tucson will look for their second-straight win over the Vegas Golden Knights AHL affiliate after a 6-3 come-from-behind victory in the series opener Friday night. In that game, the Roadrunners overcame an early 2-0 deficit with four goals in the first 9:04 of the second period, followed by a pair of power-play strikes in the final 3:47 to secure the win.

Game Recap: Tucson (6) at Henderson (3)

Las Vegas, Nevada – The Tucson Roadrunners clashed with the Henderson Silver Knights for the first time in over a month Friday night, as they traveled to Las Vegas for the first time since early November. Henderson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening frame, before Tucson answered back with four consecutive goals in the second period and pair of power-play strikes late in the third to come away with a 6-3 road victory. Seven different players recorded multiple points for the Roadrunners and goaltender Ivan Prosvetov stopped 28 of 31 shots faced in the win.

Game #54: Tucson at Henderson

The Tucson Roadrunners head to Las Vegas to take on the Henderson Silver Knights for the final two times this weekend at the Orleans Arena. The first game of the back-to-back series is Friday night, as the Roadrunners reach the midway point of their current road trip. Friday’s contest marks the first meeting between Tucson and Henderson since February 20. The weekend series with the Silver Knights will round out the month of March for the Roadrunners, as they’ll return to the Tucson Arena for four games in six nights starting Friday, April 1.

Game Recap: Tucson (3) at San Diego (4)

San Diego, California – The Tucson Roadrunners kicked off a three-game road trip Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena, as they took on the San Diego Gulls for the fifth time this season. Wednesday’s game saw the score tied at 0-0, 1-1, 2-2, and 3-3 with each team holding the lead twice, as the Gulls came away with a 4-3 win. Ivan Prosvetov made his 13th consecutive start in net for the Roadrunners and recorded 25 saves.

Game #53: Tucson at San Diego

The Tucson Roadrunners head out on the road Wednesday night to face off with the San Diego Gulls for the fifth time this season. Four of Tucson’s 16 remaining games are against their I-8 Border Rivals, beginning with Wednesday’s matchup and ending with the final three games of the regular season. The Roadrunners will look to get one win closer to defending their I-8 Border Trophy for the fifth-straight year, as they currently hold a 2-2 record against the Gulls this season. Tucson is 6-3 in their last 9 Wednesday matchups against the Gulls, and 10-3 overall against San Diego in games taking place between Monday and Thursday.

Game Recap: San Jose (5) at Tucson (2)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners took on the San Jose Barracuda for the final time in the regular season Saturday night at the Tucson Arena. The meeting was the rubber match of a three-game set with the Barracuda over four days in the Old Pueblo. San Jose came away with a 5-2 win in the series finale, with goals for Tucson scored by Cole Hults and Travis Barron. Ivan Prosvetov was in net for Tucson, as he recorded 28 saves. The Roadrunners and their fans celebrated Hockey Is For Everyone Night as part of the game, with the first 1,500 fans receiving a Kachina-themed poster featuring Roadrunners Mascot Dusty courtesy of Tucson International Airport.

Game #52: San Jose at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners will conclude their season series with the San Jose Barracuda Saturday night as they’ll meet for the sixth and final time this year, as well as the fourth time in 14 days. The contest also wraps up their current three-game set against the Barracuda, with each team currently sitting at one win apiece on the week. The Roadrunners will be looking for back-to-back wins after defeating San Jose 4-3 in a shootout Friday night, as they’ll celebrate Hockey is for Everyone Night at the Tucson Arena. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Kachina Poster featuring Roadrunners Mascot Dusty. Tucson can also secure their fourth consecutive Saturday night home win dating back to January 29.

Game Recap: San Jose (3) at Tucson (4) (SO)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners continued their series against the San Jose Barracuda Friday night, with the second of three games taking place with the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate. After falling behind 1-0 early in the contest, the Roadrunners answered back with three consecutive goals before San Jose forced overtime with a pair of goals late in regulation. A scoreless overtime period led the Roadrunners and Barracuda to a shootout, before Jan Jenik and Mike Carcone found the back of the net to give Tucson a 4-3 shootout victory on home ice. A crowd of 5,111 fans came out to cheer on the Roadrunners as they celebrated First Responders Night at the Tucson Arena, the largest Friday night attendance since October 18, 2019. Ivan Prosvetov was once again in net for Tucson after starting the series opener, as he turned 31 of 34 shots aside and was two of three in the shootout.
