Game #51: San Jose at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners will continue their series against the San Jose Barracuda Friday night, with the second of three games taking place at the Tucson Arena. The Roadrunners will look to even the series at one win apiece, after the Barracuda took the series opener on Wednesday night. Friday’s matchup between the Roadrunners and Barracuda is the second game of a hockey doubleheader taking place at the Tucson Arena. Prior to The Roadrunners hosting San Jose at 7 p.m., the Tucson Fire Department and Tucson Police Department will be facing off in their Inaugural Battle of the Badges Game at 4 p.m. MST. The two organizations will be raising money for the Erik Hite Foundation and I Am You 360. A ticket for Friday night is good for both games. Fans will be able to take advantage of $2 Soft Drinks, $3 Hot Dogs and $3 Draft Beers at both games.

Game Recap: San Jose (4) at Tucson (0)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners opened a three-game series at home Wednesday night as they hosted the San Jose Barracuda for the first time since the opening weekend of the 2020-2021 campaign. Tucson and San Jose combined for 114 penalty minutes and five total fights, as the Barracuda took the series opener by a score of 4-0. Ivan Prosvetov was in net for his second start of the season against San Jose, as he stopped 34 shots faced.

Game #50: San Jose at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners return home for the first time in March for a three-game set with the San Jose Barracuda. 11 of the Roadrunners final 19 regular season games will take place at the Tucson Arena, beginning with a Wednesday night matchup against San Jose. The week with San Jose will wrap up the season series between the Roadrunners and the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate, after having already met three times at the SAP Center in San Jose earlier this year. The Roadrunners won the first meeting of the 2021-2022 season between these teams on Wednesday, January 12, as they netted a pair of power-play goals in a 4-3 come-from-behind victory on the road. Four skaters have faced off against both the Barracuda in the AHL and Sharks in the NHL this season in San Jose. Mike Carcone made his NHL debut against the Sharks while Jan Jenik, Blake Speers and Cam Dineen also took the ice on December 28 at the SAP Center.

Cedar Park, Texas – The Tucson Roadrunners wrapped up their five-game road trip Saturday night, with the second of two meetings with the Texas Stars at the H-E-B Center. Tucson once again jumped out to an early lead, before falling behind 2-1 in the third period. The Roadrunners tied the game at 2-2 with just 39 seconds remaining in regulation but fell in overtime by a score of 3-2. Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov tallied 22 saves for Tucson in his ninth-straight appearance, and fourth start against Texas on the season.

Game #49: Tucson at Texas

The Tucson Roadrunners finish off their five-game road trip Saturday night with a rematch against the Texas Stars. The series finale at the H-E-B Center will face-off at 6:00 p.m. MST, as Tucson will look to even up the weekend series at 1-1 and the overall season series with Texas at two wins apiece. Saturday’s game ends a stretch of nine out of Tucson’s last 13 contests taking place on the road, with the Roadrunners not going back out on the road for more than three consecutive matchups for the rest of the regular season.

The game marked the third meeting on the season between Tucson and Texas, and fifth of 12 out of division matchups for the Roadrunners. The fast-paced, high-energy matchup ended with a 3-2 Texas victory, as the Dallas Stars AHL affiliate took the final lead of the contest with just 2:25 on the clock in the third period. The goals for Tucson were scored by Cam Crotty and Cam Hebig, while goaltender Ivan Prosvetov recorded 33 saves for the most in three outings against Texas this season.

Game #48: Tucson at Texas

The Tucson Roadrunners enter the final weekend of their five-game road trip Friday night with the first of two games with the Texas Stars. The Roadrunners are back in the Lone Star State for the first time since May 2021, when they took on the Stars for their final three road games of the 2020-2021 season. The season series between Tucson and Texas is currently even at 1-1 after a pair of games at the Tucson Arena October 23 and 24. The 138 days since the Roadrunners last game with the Texas Stars on October 24 and Friday’s contest is the largest single-season gap between games against a team since the 2017-2018 season. After the weekend series with Texas, 11 of the final 19 games for Tucson will be on their home ice.

Game Recap: Tucson (2) at San Jose (6)

San Jose, California – The Tucson Roadrunners capped off a stretch of three games in five nights across the state of California Sunday night, as they took on the San Jose Barracuda at the SAP Center for the third time this season. The Roadrunners had goals from Mike Carcone and Matt Foley with Foley’s erasing a 2-1 third period deficit, but fell to the Barracuda by a score of 6-2. Carcone’s goal marked his team-leading 23rd of the year to match the franchise record for most in a season, while Foley’s was the first goal of his American Hockey League career. Ivan Prosvetov was in net for the Roadrunners and stopped 23 of 25 shots through the first 40 minutes of play.

Game #47: Tucson at San Jose

The Tucson Roadrunners wrap up their week in California Sunday night at the SAP Center in San Jose when they take on the Barracuda at 6:00 p.m. MST. The game begins a stretch for Tucson where four of their next six contests are against San Jose. The final three meetings with the Barracuda on the season will take place at the Tucson Arena from Wednesday, March 16 to Saturday, March 19. The season series with the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate is currently even at one win apiece, after a pair of games at the SAP Center January 12 and 14.

Game Recap: Tucson (1) at Bakersfield (5)

Bakersfield, California – The Tucson Roadrunners continued their week in California with a Saturday night matchup against the Bakersfield Condors at the Mechanics Bank Arena. The Condors jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead as the Roadrunners fell by a score of 5-1. The goal for Tucson was scored by defenseman Doyle Somerby, his first of the season. Josef Korenar started in net for the Roadrunners and recorded seven saves in the first period. Ivan Prosvetov was between the pipes for the final two periods, and stopped all 23 shots he faced as he and Korenar held the Condors scoreless for a combined 41:06 during the contest.

Game #46: Tucson at Bakersfield

The Tucson Roadrunners will continue their week in California with a Saturday night matchup against the Bakersfield Condors at the Mechanics Bank Arena. The game marks the second trip to Bakersfield for Tucson this season and first since Wednesday, January 19. The Roadrunners will look for their second-straight win against the Condors, after a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime victory in their last matchup on Saturday, January 29. Tucson will also be vying for their third-straight Saturday night win and fifth win in the last six Saturday night. The stretch started with back-to-back Saturday wins over the Bakersfield Condors on January 29 and the San Diego Gulls on February 5, followed by wins over the Henderson Silver Knights on February 19 and the Ontario Reign on February 26.

Ontario, California – The Tucson Roadrunners opened their five-game road trip with a standings point Wednesday night against the Ontario Reign at the Toyota Arena. Tucson got out to a fast start with their second three-goal first period in the last three games, but the Reign mounted a late comeback to force overtime before netting the game-winner 1:22 into the extra period. Jan Jenik and Cam Dineen notched multiple-point performances with a pair of assists each. Ivan Prosvetov made his fifth-straight start in net for the Roadrunners and stopped 24 shots faced, including a perfect second period.
