Game #45: Tucson at Ontario
The Roadrunners will head out on the road to begin the month of March with a five-game trip across California and Texas from March 2 to 12. The first stop of the trip is the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, as the Roadrunners will face the Reign for the eighth and final time on the season. Wednesday’s meeting concludes a stretch of three games in five nights with the Los Angeles Kings AHL affiliate after a pair of matchups last Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27 at the Tucson Arena.

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners concluded their four-game home stand at the Tucson Arena Sunday afternoon, with the second of two matchups with the Ontario Reign. The Reign came back from an early 1-0 deficit to secure a 5-1 victory and split the weekend series. The goal for Tucson was scored by Matias Maccelli, his 14th of the season and first on the power-play since January 9. Ivan Prosvetov made his fifth-straight start for the Roadrunners on home ice and stopped 19 shots on goal. To close out Roadrunners Fight Cancer Weekend, nearly $25,000 was raised in a postgame jersey auction with all proceeds going to Banner Health University of Arizona Cancer Center.
Game #44: Ontario at Tucson
The Roadrunners will wrap up their four-game home stand Sunday afternoon at the Tucson Arena, as they’ll host the Ontario for the second-straight matchup as part of Roadrunners Fight Cancer Weekend. Tucson took the first game of the series Saturday night by a score of 6-5, fueled by Mike Carcone’s second hat trick of the month and Jan Jenik’s second two-goal outing in his last three games. The Roadrunners will once again be wearing their hot pink jerseys and will be auctioning them off the players’ backs after the game to benefit Banner Health University of Arizona Cancer Center.

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners hosted the Ontario Reign Saturday night at the Tucson Arena to open a two-game set with the Reign as part of Roadrunners Fight Cancer Weekend. Tucson battled back from down 2-1 and 3-2 to secure a 6-5 victory. Mike Carcone recorded his second hat trick in the last month and fifth of his AHL career, while Jan Jenik (2g 1a), Ben McCartney (1g 3a) and Matias Maccelli (2a) each recorded multiple-point performances. Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov stopped 36 shots in the third win over his last four starts at home.
Game #43: Ontario at Tucson
The Roadrunners will be back at the Tucson Arena Saturday and Sunday to host the Ontario Reign in the first of three-straight meetings over five nights. The two-game set at home marks the second half of a four-game home stand for Tucson that began last weekend with a series split against the Henderson Silver Knights. Last Saturday’s game with Henderson saw the Roadrunners erase a 3-2 deficit in the third period with a pair of power-play goals to secure a 4-3 victory.

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners faced off against the Henderson Silver Knights for the second game of a back-to-back weekend series at the Tucson Arena Sunday afternoon. The Roadrunners outshot Henderson 35 to 20 but came up short in the special-teams battle, as the Silver Knights tallied a pair of power-play goals in the second period. The AHL’s leading rookie scorer Matias Maccelli got the Roadrunners on the board in the first period with his 13th goal of the season, tying him with Jan Jenik for second on the team behind Mike Carcone. Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov was back in net for Tucson, stopping 16 shots in his second-straight start.
Game #42: Henderson at Tucson
The Tucson Roadrunners will look for a sweep against the Henderson Silver Knights Sunday afternoon at the Tucson Arena. The Roadrunners took the series opener Saturday with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory, their second-straight comeback win at the Tucson Arena. Kids Weekend continues with Sunday’s contest, as all fans 12 and under can attend the game for free with a paying adult. Kids can also receive free hockey-themed educational workbooks, and snack on $6 Kids Meals as they cheer on the Roadrunners.
Game Recap: Henderson (3) at Tucson (4)
Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners returned home to kick off a four-game home stand Saturday night, as they hosted the Henderson Silver Knights for the first of two weekend matchups at the Tucson Arena. 5,502 fans, the largest crowd since November 9, 2019 witnessed a back-and-forth battle that saw the Roadrunners come away with a 4-3 victory in the final seconds of regulation. Mike Carcone netted the game winning goal with 15 seconds left to play, becoming the fourth Roadrunner on the night to record a multiple-point performance. On the other end, goaltender Ivan Prosvetov earned his second-straight win at home as he stopped 23 shots.
Game #41: Henderson at Tucson
The Tucson Roadrunners return home for the first of two weekend series at the Tucson Arena. They’ll kick off the home stand by hosting the Henderson Silver Knights Saturday and Sunday as part of Kids Weekend. The first 1,500 kids 12 and under into the building Saturday night will receive a Kachina Youth jersey courtesy of the DentalPros. The Silver Knights take the trip to Tucson for the second time this season, after rounding out the Roadrunners final home stand of 2021 with a pair of games December 14 and 15.

Loveland, Colorado – The Tucson Roadrunners wrapped up their six-game road trip Saturday night with the second-straight matchup against the Colorado Eagles. After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first period of Friday’s 3-1 win, the Roadrunners fell by a score of 8-1 to an Eagles team hungry for a win having dropped three-straight games entering Saturday. Goaltenders David Tendeck and Josef Korenar combined for 33 saves, as Tucson split the third and final series of the trip. Tyson Empey scored the goal for the Roadrunners in the second period, his second time lighting the lamp in his rookie AHL campaign.
Game #40: Tucson at Colorado
The Tucson Roadrunners wrap up their six-game road trip Saturday night as they’ll take on the Colorado Eagles for the second-straight matchup at the Budweiser Events Center. The Roadrunners took the first meeting of the weekend Friday night by a score of 3-1, with all three Tucson goals scored in the first period. Forward Travis Barron set a new season team-best for fastest goal to begin a game when he scored 1:11 into the first period against his former team, beating out Victor Soderstrom’s opening goal on January 4 against the Stockton Heat by 18 seconds. Before Friday’s contest, forward Stephen Baylis was called-up from the Rapid City Rush for the second time this season and appeared in his third game of the 2021-2022 campaign. Baylis has 19 goals with the Rush this season and played alongside Cedric Lacroix and Stephen Harper in Friday’s victory.

Loveland, Colorado – The Tucson Roadrunners opened the final weekend of their six-game road trip with a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center. Tucson held the hometown Eagles scoreless for the first 55:43 of the contest, backed by 24 of goaltender David Tendeck’s 26 total saves. Matias Maccelli, Cam Dineen, and Mike Carcone each recorded multiple-point performances in the first 17:08 of the opening frame, as the Roadrunners jumped to a 3-0 lead starting with their fastest goal to start a game this season 1:11 in by Travis Barron. The Roadrunners added goals later in the period by Ben McCartney and Cam Dineen, as they led for the final 58:49 of the game. Goaltender David Tendeck made his first start in the AHL, stopping 26 shots and earning his first win in the American Hockey League.
