Roadrunners Acquire Whitney In Exchange For Ranford

TUCSON, AZ – Tucson Roadrunners General Manager Doug Soetaert announced today that the team has acquired forward Joe Whitney from the San Antonio Rampage in exchange for forward Brendan Ranford.
The 29-year-old Whitney has appeared in 329 career American Hockey League games, as well as five in the National Hockey League with the New Jersey Devils. This season with the Rampage, the 5-6, 171-pound Whitney has appeared in 55 games with 11 goals and 28 points.
In 369 total American Hockey League games, Whitney has scored 111 goals, 159 assists and 270 points. The Reading, MA native attended Boston College, where he spent four years playing in the Hockey East.
Tucson returns to action Friday night against the San Diego Gulls at 8:00 p.m. at the Valley View Casino Center. Tickets for all seven remaining Roadrunners home games are on sale now via the TCC Box Office and online at
