Roadrunners edged in 3-2 loss to Barracuda

In a back-and-forth affair Tuesday night at Tucson Arena, the Roadrunners fell on the wrong side of the result, losing to the San Jose Barracuda by a 3-2 score.
The clubs traded goals in the opening two periods of play, but Tucson was unable to respond in the third.
A mere 2:13 into the game, Jens Looke gave the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead in scoring his fourth goal of the season when he received a Lane Pederson pass and beat San Jose’s Antoine Bibeau to the far side.
For Looke, it was his third goal in the past five games. Trevor Cheek’s secondary assist on the goal gave him points in three consecutive contests.
Tim Clifton tied the game 1-1 for the Barracuda with just under five minutes to play in the first.
In the early moments second, Jon Martin gave San Jose a 2-1 lead.
With 8:21 left to play in the middle frame, Mario Kempe redirected a Kyle Wood shot to score his second goal of the season, tying the game 2-2.
Michael Bunting, with the secondary assist on Kempe’s goal, extended his personal points streak to five games.
Hunter Miska stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced, suffering his second loss of the season.
Now with a 12-6-2-1 record and a .643 win percentage, the Roadrunners continue to sit at second place in the Pacific Division.
The teams will reconvene for a rematch on Wednesday night at Tucson Arena, where the puck is scheduled to drop just after 7:05 PM.
