Each game presented a different avenue to result, and more often than not, 60 minutes just wasn't cutting it.
To start the week, the Roadrunners put a cap on their first road trip of the season, grinding late into the San Jose night in an affair that extended into overtime and a six-round shootout, the result a 3-2 loss on Monday evening to the Barracuda at the SAP Center.
Dakota Mermis buried his first goal of the season and Adam Helewka continued his torrid start, finding the net against his former team.

Shifting back home Friday for a back-to-back weekend series against the Rockford IceHogs, the Roadrunners’ 14th opponent in franchise history, the team found itself in an overtime battle once again.
With 27 seconds left in the extra frame, Conor Garland sped into Rockford territory to beat Kevin Lankinen high to the blocker side, securing a 4-3 win for the Roadrunners – the 20th overtime victory in club history and the 10th at Tucson Arena.

The Roadrunners were the 29th team in the American Hockey League to put a dent in their loss column; only the Springfield Thunderbirds remain unbeaten. With a 1-1-0-1 record during the week, the Roadrunners stand just where they have the previous two years through six games – with a .750 win percentage.
To summarize: Tucson, during the week, saw one game end in regulation, one in overtime, and one in a shootout.
