The Rundown:

Firing away in Southern California with an affinity for finding the net, the Roadrunners combined to score 12 goals against the Ontario Reign and San Diego Gulls to maintain their ferocious start, pocketing four standings points with a pair of wins.
 
Conor Garland, named the CCM Hockey/AHL Player of the Week Monday morning, had a monstrous two games, registering seven points (2G, 5A), including his tying of a single game franchise record with a five-point outing.
 
 
Friday night in Ontario, the Roadrunners ousted the Reign by an 8-5 score, the team netting a franchise record eight goals. Mario Kempe returned to the lineup upon his Thursday assignment with immediate impact, registering three assists. Matteo Gennaro highlighted the night, scoring a hat trick and finishing the evening with four points.
 
Gennaro’s hat trick was the fourth in club history; the others were Christian Fischer (12/16/16 at SA), Brendan Perlini (1/10/17 vs. MB), and Mario Kempe (3/2/18 at CLE).
 
 
The Roadrunners continued to keep the Gulls in control Saturday, beating their division rival for the third time this season and for the sixth-straight time overall, edging San Diego by a 4-3 count in an overtime affair that was ended via David Ullstrom’s game-clinching goal with 15.3 seconds left in the extra frame.
 
Hunter Miska picked up both winning decisions, improving his record to 3-1-1 Mario Kempe totaled four points (1G, 3A) in his first two games back with Tucson Brayden Burke registered his first pro point with the secondary assist on Hudson Fasching’s first period goal Friday Conor Garland now has a four game point streak and leads the team in scoring with 11 points (3G, 8A).

Alumni in Action:

Sparking a week in which the Coyotes won all three of their games played, Christian Fischer put forth a dominating performance in the team’s 4-1 victory of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday at Nationwide Arena, netting his first NHL hat trick. He is currently second on the Coyotes’ roster in goals scored with four. Fischer played in 57 games with Tucson in 2016-17 and scored the first hat trick in Roadrunners history on December 16, 2016, a 5-4 overtime victory over the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center.
 
 


Highlight of the Week:

Robbie Russo and Michael Bunting battle along the boards in the waning moments of overtime Saturday night, Bunting scraping away free to set-up a driving David Ullstrom for the overtime game-winning goal, which Ullstrom deposited with 15.3 seconds left on the clock.
