Game #47 Preview: Tucson vs. Bakersfield

AFTERNOON DELIGHT: Today marks the sixth of eight meetings with the Condors this season, and the final of Bakersfield’s four scheduled visits to Tucson Arena. The Roadrunners are playing the second of a four-game home stand; the Condors are playing the final of a four-game road trip. Both teams are coming off of a meeting Saturday night in which the Roadrunners won, 5-4.
 
MATCHING IT: With a victory this afternoon, the Roadrunners will match their win-total from the 2016-17 season, where with a 29-31-8-0 record, they finished in sixth place in the Pacific Division. Tonight serves as the team’s 47th game of the season, with 21 left to play following today’s affair.
 
CONDOR KILLER: Dylan Strome matched a single game career-high in points (4) and assists (3) in Saturday night’s victory. In five games played against the Condors this season, all of which have been wins, Strome has totaled a whopping 14 points (5G, 9A). Now with 46 points (19G, 27A) on the year, Strome is tied with Toronto’s Andreas Johnson for third in the AHL in scoring.
 
 
PROJECTED LINEUP: The team held an optional morning skate at Tucson Arena ahead of tonight’s game. Per club policy, specifics regarding the team’s lineup will not be published until 2:00 PM this afternoon.

WHILE THE SUN’S OUT: The Roadrunners are 0-2-1-0 in games that start at 4:00 PM or earlier this season, falling to the Chicago Wolves 2-1 in overtime on October 22 (4:00 PM CST), the Ontario Reign 4-2 on December 3 (3:05 PM PST), and the San Diego Gulls 5-3 on December 17 (10:00 AM MST). Can the team earn an afternoon victory today against the Condors?
 
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams’ previous meeting on Saturday night, the Roadrunners defeated the Condors by a 5-4 count. Lane Pederson, John Ramage, Tyler Gaudet, Mike Sislo, and Dylan Strome scored for the Roadrunners; Adin Hill stopped 22 of the 26 shots he faced in earning his 12th win of the season. The Roadrunners are now a perfect 5-0-0-0 against Bakersfield this year.
 
 
HAPPY #100: If he’s to draw into tonight’s lineup as expected, defenseman Dysin Mayo will be playing in his 100th professional game. The 21 year-old has played in 25 ECHL games, all with the Rapid City Rush, and in 74 AHL games, 5 with the Springfield Falcons, and 69 with the Roadrunners. He’s totaled 29 points (6G, 23A) through his first 99 pro games, 12 of those (5G, 7A) coming in a Roadrunners uniform.
 
HANDY HANLEY: In his four games back since returning from a three-game suspension on February 9, Joel Hanley has registered five assists. Hanley recorded three assists in Saturday night’s victory, setting a personal new season high mark.
