Teddy Bear Toss:

On Saturday, December 14, the Tucson Roadrunners will host their annual Teddy Bear Toss game versus the Henderson Silver Knights. Fans are encouraged to bring as many stuffed animals as possible to throw onto the ice after Tucson’s first goal. The teddy bears and rest of the stuffed animals thrown onto the ice will then be donated to Aviva Children’s Services. To be part of the fun, click HERE for tickets to the Teddy Bear Toss game.

Doan on the Dollar:

Roadrunners Forward Josh Doan continues to level the playing field with his recent stretch as of late. After battling a scoreless stretch of six games, Doan has now acquired nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in the last seven games: including three separate point streaks in the same span. On Tucson’s recent three games in San Diego and Calgary, Doan notched one goal and three assists for four points: including his fourth multiple-point game of the season on Saturday, December 7, versus the Calgary Wranglers. Doan added a primary assist and goal to his stat sheet in a two minute and seven second span. His fourth multiple-point game of the season also tied the totals of Forwards Egor Sokolov and Kailer Yamamoto. In multiple-point games this season, Sokolov has 10 points (7 goals, 3 assists), Yamamoto has eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) and Doan has seven points (5 goals, 3 assists).

Curtis Crushes:

Roadrunners 6-foot-9, 242-pound forward Curtis Douglas has found the scoresheet while fighting opponents in his recent games. Douglas is riding a season-high three game point streak with a goal and two assists: as well as a scrap on Friday, December 6, versus Wranglers Forward Alex Gallant. Douglas, who’s in his third season with Tucson, had 10 fights last season that led the team: that was also part of a 40-total fight season as a unit. This year, Douglas is well within line for another 10-fight season, as he has four already in the first 20 games of the year: while only playing 14 of them. In addition, fellow members of the imposed Juggernaut line of Travis Barron and Hunter Drew each contributed to scoring within the last three games: with Barron scoring a goal and assist including a two-game point streak and Drew scoring his sixth goal of the season.

AND THAT ONE IS A-GONE-ZZINO

Roadrunners assistant captain Andrew Aggozzino has been one of the most consistent scorers in the AHL throughout his 754-game career and continues to do so in year number 14. This season, Aggozzino is second on the team in points (15), goals (6) and assists (9). In his last six games, he has six points (3 goals, 3 assists) including two separate three-point streaks. Agozzino also started the season off with a six-game point streak with six points (3 goals, 3 assists): which is the second-best point streak on the team this season tied with Egor Sokolov.

The Scrunches:

The Roadrunners have had two tight schedules of games this season: with a third coming up on the next stretch of games. The first, the Roadrunners had four games in six days from October 25 to October 30 versus the Bakersfield Condors and Abbotsford Canucks. The Roadrunners went 3-1-0-0 in the stretch. Second one came in five games in nine days from November 22 to November 30: in which the Roadrunners went 4-1-0-0 in a homestand versus the Calgary Wranglers and Coachella Valley Firebirds; and a one-game trip to San Diego versus the Gulls. Now the Roadrunners next stretch comes in six games in eight days; from December 13 to December 21: versus the Henderson Silver Knights, San Diego Gulls and Abbotsford Canucks before the Christmas break. The Roadrunners have been better when games come in small stretches, especially in their second games of a back-to-back. This season, Tucson is 6-3-0-0 with 0 days of rest and overall, 6-2-0-0 when the team must play four games in less than seven days.
