AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND: Tonight marks the second of 12 meetings with the Gulls this season, the first of six scheduled visits to San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center. The Roadrunners are playing the first of a two-game road trip; they’re coming off of a 4-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday night. The Gulls are playing the fourth of a five-game home stand; they’re coming off of a 4-1 loss to the Ontario Reign on Saturday.
HISTORY LESSON: The Roadrunners matched their longest points streak in franchise history last weekend, extending their current run to 10 games (8-0-2-0). If the team is able to extend tonight’s game past regulation, they will set a new team record. The Gulls are the only team the Roadrunners have lost to in regulation this season.
ENERGY SOURCE: The Gulls come into the evening with the league’s top power play unit, converting on 24.7% (18-for-73) of their man advantage opportunities. San Diego does most of its damage on the power play; 18 of the club’s 41 goals scored (43.9%) on the season have come in those situations. The Roadrunners’ penalty kill is 13th in the league; they have killed off 83.1% (49-for-59) of their opponents’ power plays. They surrendered three power play goals to the Gulls in the teams’ first meeting of the season.
PROJECTED LINEUP: The team held a pregame morning skate ahead of tonight’s game at the Valley View Casino Center. Per club policy, specifics regarding the team’s lineup will not be published until 6:00 PM this afternoon.

TOP DOGS: With a .818 win% (8-1-2-0), the Roadrunners continue to hold sole possession of first place in the entire American Hockey League. The Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (10-2-0-1) are close behind with a .808 win%. With the victory tonight, the Roadrunners guarantee themselves to continue to hold the league’s top spot.
SOLVING SAN DIEGO: The Roadrunners enter the night with an all-time record of 2-11-0-0 against the Gulls. Both of the club’s victories against San Diego have come on the road at the Valley View Casino Center; a 5-4 shootout win on December 26, 2016 and a 5-2 win on February 18, 2017. Can the team even their season series against the Gulls with a victory tonight?
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams’ previous meeting on October 7 at Tucson Arena, the Roadrunners fell by a 7-6 score. Six different players scored for the Roadrunners; Mario Kempe led the team with three points (1G, 2A). Hunter Miska and Adin Hill combined to make 20 saves in the loss.
