TOUR UPDATE: With a 3-1-0-0 record through the first four games of their season-long six-game road trip, the team’s overall record away from home continues to improve. In 21 games played away from Tucson Arena, the Roadrunners are 15-4-1-1, which translates into a .762 road win percentage – the third best in the AHL. The Roadrunners went 1-5-0-0 during their Gem Show road trip last season.
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams’ previous meeting on Friday night, their first of such this season, the Roadrunners defeated the Stars, 5-2. Dysin Mayo, Tyler Gaudet, Laurent Dauphin (2), and Lane Pederson each scored for the Roadrunners; Hunter Miska stopped 16 of 18 shots faced in the win. Both Dauphin (2G, 1A) and Pederson (1G, 2A) finished the night with three points. The win served as the Roadrunners’ first-ever at Texas’ H-E-B Center.
AREA 33: With Hunter Miska getting the start Friday, it is likely Adin Hill will go for the Roadrunners in the second half of the Roadrunners’ back-to-back set tonight. Hill, who earned his 10th win of the season Monday night with a 35-save performance against the San Jose Barracuda, has won each of his last six starts away from Tucson Arena.
TO GIVE AND TO TAKE: Entering the night, the Roadrunners rank in the Top 10 in both goals scored and goals against. The team’s median of 3.28 goals scored per game ranks sixth in the league; their average of 2.79 goals allowed per game ranks tenth.
FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED: After overcoming an early one-goal deficit last night, the Roadrunners responded and never looked back, taking a lead before the end of the first period – one they would not relinquish. They are now 12-3-0-1 when leading after one period, and 14-1-0-1 when leading after two.
