Adin Hill started the Roadrunners’ week off with a blank on Tuesday night, pitching his third shutout of the season to help lead the team to a 4-0 victory over the San Jose Barracuda at Tucson Arena.
Tuesday evening also marked Conor Garland’s 100th professional game – and he had himself quite the night, getting the acclaimed ‘Gordie Howe Hat-Trick’ with a goal, an assist, and a fight.
On Wednesday, the Roadrunners clawed for a point thanks to Carter Camper’s magnificent game-tying goal to extend the game past regulation when he fled end-to-end to score with 1:17 left to play in the team’s eventual 4-3 overtime loss.
Bakersfield, Saturday night, was the first stop in the Roadrunners’ back-to-back weekend set on the road. Conor Garland jammed his own rebound past Laurent Brossoit with 2:01 left in regulation to spark the team to a 2-1 win over the Condors.
The Roadrunners suffered just their second regulation loss in the month of March on Sunday in San Jose, losing to the Barracuda by a 3-2 count at the SAP Center.
Although short-lived, the Roadrunners claimed first-place in the Western Conference on two occasions during the week, once after Tuesday night’s victory, and again after Friday night’s win. The Manitoba Moose have since reclaimed the top spot in the West.
Hunter Miska stopped 39 of the combined 40 shots he faced during his two appearances.
Mike Sislo, in scoring his 23rd goal of the season Wednesday, surpassed Dylan Strome for the team lead in that department.
The team’s magic number to clinch a Calder Cup playoff spot currently stands at seven.

Alumni in Action:
In his first game back with the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday night, and a mere 96 miles from where he played four seasons with the OHL’s Erie Otters, Dylan Strome opened the scoring in the Coyotes’ eventual 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Arena, banking a shot off of Chad Johnson’s left pad.
Defenseman Trevor Murphy, on Saturday night at the BB&T Center against the Florida Panthers, became the 10th player to make his NHL debut through an Arizona Coyotes recall from Tucson. He is the 19th name to appear in a game with the Coyotes following time with the Roadrunners.
Highlight of the Week:
Early in the second period on Tuesday night, Conor Garland chipped a lob pass to Mario Kempe, which Kempe sped into in-stride, finding himself alone to beat San Jose’s Antoine Bibeau with a slick move to the left to give the Roadrunners a 3-0 lead in the team’s eventual 4-0 victory over the Barracuda at Tucson Arena.
