Last Week Today: Home Ice Secured

By: Alexander Kinkopf

The Rundown:

In their first games since assuring a playoff spot, the Roadrunners hosted the defending Calder Cup champion Grand Rapids Griffins for a pair of contests at Tucson Arena.
Adin Hill put forth a huge bounce-back performance Friday night, pitching his fourth shutout of the season, blanking the Griffins with a 26-save effort as the Roadrunners worked toward a 3-0 victory.
The win guaranteed the Roadrunners home ice for the first round of the postseason.
On Saturday, the Roadrunners lost in regulation for just the third time in their last 15 games, falling to the Griffins by a 4-1 count.
Lawson Crouse netted Tucson’s lone goal in the loss, extending his season-long point-streak to five games, which is also the current longest on the team. He’s totaled six points (4G, 2A) during his scoring stretch, which included goals in both games played against Grand Rapids.
Carter Camper registered assists in both games, and now has points in four-straight games and a total of 61 on the season, 19 of which have come in 15 games played in a Roadrunners uniform.
The Roadrunners’ magic number to clinch the AHL’s Pacific Division title currently stands at 1; their magic number to clinch the Western Conference regular season championship is at 3.

Where They Stand:

Record: 39-20-5-1 (.646 pts %)
Pacific Division: 1st Place
Western Conference: 1st Place
League: 4th Place
