The Tucson Roadrunners return home to the TCC for a six-game homestand after their 2-3-0-0 five-game road trip against an opponent they have not played since April of 2022, the Minnesota Wild AHL affiliate Iowa Wild. The Roadrunners enter the week with the third best winning percentage in the Western Conference with a record of 21-10-1-1 and having won five of their last six matchups at the TCC. Tucson recently finished a stretch in which they were away in 10 of 14 games from December 8-January 13 where they finished 9-5-0-0 and 6-4-0-0 on the Road. The Wild sit at sixth place in their Central Division; coming off a split series against the San Diego Gulls. They are 2-7-0-1 in their last 10 games.
Three things:
- Tucson’s special teams had another great game despite Saturday’s loss to the Abbotsford Canucks. In three straight games, the Roadrunners have scored at least one power-play goal while being perfect on the penalty-kill. In the three games Tucson is 3-for-11 (27.2%) on the power-play and 15-for-15 on the penalty kill. In addition, Forward Austin Poganski had three power-play points (1 goal, 2 assists) on Tucson’s previous road trip and has five total power-play points with two goals and three assists this season.
- The Roadrunners are 5-1-0-0 against Central Division opponents this season averaging three goals per-game and two goals allowed per-game. Against teams under .500 this season, the Roadrunners are 9-2-0-0; scoring well over three goals per-game at 3.09.
- Forward Josh Doan extended his road game point streak to nine with an assist on Saturday’s game in Abbotsford. Now returning home to the TCC, Doan is riding a team-high four-game assist streak and five-game point streak overall. In his last 16 games, Doan has 14 points with six goals and eight assists.
What’s the word?
“We’ve been on the road for a while now and it’s tiring at times, but we have a lot of compete from our group to get through; it’s a quick turnaround back to Tucson (Monday), so we have to focus and get our heads right and move on.”

Number to Know:
142:53 – The number of minutes and seconds the Roadrunners had a shutout rolling over three games until Abbotsford’s first goal on Saturday. That is the organization’s longest shutout streak in team history as Matthew Villalta and Dylan Wells both shouldered the load. In that same shutout span, the Roadrunners outscored their opponents 9-0 while outshooting them 69-63. Combined this season, Villalta and Wells have a 19-10-1-1 record with a 2.58 goals against and .913 save percentage.
