Cedar Park, Texas – The Roadrunners fell to the Texas Stars by a score of 4-1 Saturday night at the H-E-B Center to conclude a two-game set from Texas. A third-period comeback attempt by the Roadrunners was stopped by a Stars power-play strike and an empty-net goal in the final 3:16 of regulation, as Tucson and Texas were either tied or separated by one goal for 55:33 of the opening 56:44 of the contest. Jon Gillies stopped 29 of 32 shots faced for Tucson, while forward J.S. Dea extended his active team lead in goals scored to 13 with an even-strength tally in the third period. The Roadrunners will return home and open a four-game home stand at the Tucson Arena on Friday, January 6 against the Colorado Eagles.
Game #30 – Roadrunners at Stars
The 14-11-4-0 Tucson Roadrunners close out the 2022 calendar year with the second of two meetings with the Texas Stars at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park. Tucson fell in Friday’s series opener by a score of 7-3, their first game since before the Holiday Break on Friday, December 23. Saturday’s series finale represents the 13th and final game in the month of December for Tucson, the second-most of any month this season behind January’s 14 upcoming contests. The contest also marks the fourth New Year’s Eve Game in Roadrunners franchise history, and the first for Tucson since 2019. The Roadrunners have a 2-1 record on New Year’s Eve entering the series finale with Texas, with wins over the San Diego Gulls and Ontario Reign in 2019 and 2017, respectively.

Cedar Park, Texas – The Roadrunners fell to the Texas Stars by a score of 7-3 in their first game out of the Holiday Break Friday night at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The Stars extended their lead in the AHL’s Central Division with the win, while Tucson moved to 14-11-4-0 on the season. Forwards Colin Theisen and Reece Vitelli tallied third-period goals in their first games since being recalled from the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators. Friday was the first game for Tucson since leading scorer Mike Carcone’s call-up to the Arizona Coyotes. Everyday skaters Laurent Dauphin, Adam Cracknell, Jan Jenik, and Travis Barron were also absent from the lineup, with three of the Roadrunners top five leaders in points not on the ice (Carcone, Dauphin, Cracknell). The Roadrunners and Stars will meet again Saturday night for the final game of the 2022 calendar year, before Tucson returns home for a four-game home stand beginning Friday, January 6.
Game #29 – Roadrunners at Stars
The 14-10-4-0 Tucson Roadrunners head out on the road for the final two games of the 2022 calendar year with a weekend series with the Texas Stars at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park Friday and Saturday. Friday’s series opener marks the first meeting of the season between Tucson and the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, and the first trip to Texas for the Roadrunners since March 12, 2022. The Stars enter the series atop the AHL’s Central Division in terms of standings points with a 17-7-3-2 record and have not taken the ice since a 3-2 overtime loss to Rockford on December 21. Meanwhile, Friday is Tucson’s first game since they hosted the San Diego Gulls a week ago on Friday, December 23.

Tucson, Arizona – The Roadrunners fell to the San Diego Gulls for the first time in four meetings this season Friday night in their final home game of 2022 by a score of 6-2. Tucson’s late six-on-five attack worked for most of the final seven minutes of regulation and allowed just one empty-net goal with 23 seconds remaining, as the series finale between I-8 Border Rivals capped off a stretch of nine games in 15 days for the Roadrunners. Laurent Dauphin and Curtis Douglas each found the back of the net, while Cam Dineen and Mike Carcone extended their active point streaks to five games apiece with assists. The Roadrunners will take a six-day break before heading to Texas to take on the Stars on Friday, December 30.
Game #28 – Gulls at Roadrunners
The 14-9-4-0 Tucson Roadrunners take on the San Diego Gulls Friday night at the Tucson Arena in their final home game of 2022. The contest with the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks wraps up a two-game series between I-8 Border Rivals that saw Tucson take the series opener Thursday night by a score of 6-2. Friday is also Festivus Night at the Tucson Arena to celebrate Festivus and the classic Seinfeld episode, “The Strike.” Scenes from the episode will be featured on the video board, and Mascot Dusty will even have his own Festivus Pole.

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners hosted the San Diego Gulls for the first time this season at the Tucson Arena, as they defeated their I-8 Border Rivals for the fifth-straight meeting by a score of 6-2. The Roadrunners tallied three power-play goals, while five different skaters posted multiple-point performances. Tucson netminder Jon Gillies earned the win in his first start of the year against San Diego, as he made 26 saves and held the Gulls scoreless for the first 37:04 of the contest. The Roadrunners and the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks will close out the two-game set from the Old Pueblo Friday night at 7 p.m. MST.

The 13-9-4-0 Tucson Roadrunners return home for the final two games before Christmas, as they’ll take on the San Diego Gulls Thursday and Friday at the Tucson Arena. Thursday marks the Gulls first trip to the Old Pueblo since the final two games of the 2021-2022 campaign, which were both won by the Roadrunners. Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners took on the Coachella Valley Firebirds for the sixth time this season Tuesday night, as they netted three power-play goals to secure a 3-2 victory and win two of three matchups on their three-game road trip. Forward Mike Carcone extended his league lead for total points with two goals and an assist, while goaltender Ivan Prosvetov held the Firebirds scoreless for the final 24:26 with 31 total saves. The Roadrunners improved to 13-9-4-0 with the win and will head home to Tucson for a pair of games with the San Diego Gulls on Thursday, December 22 and Friday, December 23.
Game #26 – Roadrunners at Firebirds
The 12-9-4-0 Tucson Roadrunners take on the Coachella Valley Firebirds for their third game in four nights on Tuesday at the Acrisure Arena. Tucson faced off with the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night in the first ever game at the new home of the Firebirds in Palm Desert. Coachella Valley won their home opener and the series opener by a score of 4-3, with Tucson scoring each of the final two goals. Following Tuesday’s series finale, the Roadrunners will return home for a pair of games before Christmas against their I-8 Border Rivals, the San Diego Gulls.

The Firebirds came away with a 4-3 victory in the first-ever game in Coachella Valley, as the Roadrunners fell to 12-9-4-0 on the season. Jan Jenik scored a pair of goals for the Roadrunners, while Laurent Dauphin tallied his tenth goal of the season. Tucson and Coachella Valley will meet again in Palm Desert on Tuesday, December 20, at 8 p.m. MST.
Game #25 – Roadrunners at Firebirds
The 12-8-4-0 Tucson Roadrunners continue their three-game road trip Sunday night with the first of two meetings against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. Sunday’s matchup represents the first game to take place at the Acrisure Arena, the new home of the Firebirds. The Roadrunners have taken on the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken four times already this season, all at the Tucson Arena. The Roadrunners enter the two-game set with Coachella Valley having earned at least a standings point in five of their last six contests, including a 7-2 win over the Firebirds on Tuesday, December 13.
