Game Recap: Roadrunners (1) At Silver Knights (2)

Henderson, Nevada – The Tucson Roadrunners concluded the 2022 preseason slate Sunday afternoon with the second of two exhibition matchups with the Henderson Silver Knights. After coming away with a 5-2 win at home on Friday, the Roadrunners fell to the Silver Knights on the road by a score of 2-1. Returning forward Travis Barron had the lone goal for Tucson, while goaltender Ivan Prosvetov made his preseason debut for the Roadrunners and stopped 16 of 18 shots faced.

Preseason Game #2 – Roadrunners At Silver Knights

The Roadrunners will wrap up the preseason Sunday afternoon, as they’ll travel to Henderson for the second of two games against the Silver Knights. Tucson is coming off of a 5-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights AHL affiliate at home on Friday, as 13 Roadrunners recorded a point in the win. After Sunday’s exhibition contest, Tucson will stay put in Nevada to open the regular season the following weekend against Henderson.

The Tucson Roadrunners opened the 2022 Preseason with their first of two games against the Henderson Silver Knights, AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. With seven returning players in the lineup, Tucson took down Henderson by a score of 5-2 in front of a home crowd. Scoring for the Roadrunners was a mix of new and returning skaters, while Tucson goaltender David Tendeck made 13 saves in the win.

Preseason Game #1 – Silver Knights At Roadrunners

The Roadrunners are back on the ice Friday night at the Tucson Arena, as they’ll face off with the Henderson Silver Knights in the first of two preseason contests. Tucson will start the 2022-2023 slate with four consecutive games against the Silver Knights: two exhibition matchups, followed by a pair of games as part of opening weekend in Henderson.

Game Recap: Ducks (3) at Coyotes (2)

Tucson, Arizona – The Arizona Coyotes continued their preseason slate Sunday afternoon with their only exhibition contest to take place in the state of Arizona, as they played host to the Anaheim Ducks at the Tucson Arena. A raucous crowd of 4,780 of the Tucson faithful made their way to the rink to see the parent club of their Roadrunners in action. The game marked the second-ever NHL preseason game in the Old Pueblo, exactly five years after another Ducks-Coyotes tilt on September 25, 2017. The Coyotes fell to the Ducks by a score of 3-2, as original Roadrunner Christian Fischer tallied a multi-point outing (1g 1a). Arizona employed a goalie tandem of starter Karel Vejmelka and backup Anson Thornton, while Anaheim stuck with a familiar Tucson foe in backstop Lukas Dostal, who has appeared in net five times against the Roadrunners last season as a member of the San Diego Gulls.

NHL Preseason: Ducks at Coyotes

NHL hockey returns to the Old Pueblo as the Arizona Coyotes will play host to the Anaheim Ducks at the Tucson Arena Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. MST. The game will mark the Coyotes’ second preseason contest and their only one in the state of Arizona. The game will feature several Roadrunners alumni, as 19 players on Arizona’s Training Camp Roster have appeared for both the Roadrunners and Coyotes over the last six seasons.

Game Recap: San Diego (2) at Tucson (3) (SO)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners concluded the 2021-2022 regular season Friday night against their I-8 Border Rivals, the San Diego Gulls. In the season finale at the Tucson Arena, the Roadrunners held on for a 3-2 shootout victory. Terry Broadhurst and Hudson Fasching scored second-period goals to take a 2-0 lead, before Colin Theisen and Broadhurst netted a pair of goals in the shootout to come away with the win. Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov stopped 18 of 20 shots faced and was a perfect two-for-two in the shootout in front of a crowd of 5,410, the second largest of the season at the Tucson Arena.

Game #68: San Diego at Tucson

The Roadrunners close out the 2021-2022 season Friday night at the Tucson Arena, as they’ll host the San Diego Gulls for the second-straight night. Tucson took the series opener by a score of 6-2 with a four-goal second period. A Roadrunners win in regulation Friday night will secure the I-8 Border Cup Trophy for the fifth-straight year. Tucson has ended their regular season against the Gulls in four of their last five seasons.

Game Recap: San Diego (2) at Tucson (6)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners kicked off the final series of the 2021-2022 season Thursday night by hosting the San Diego Gulls for the first of back-to-back contests at the Tucson Arena. After trailing 1-0 at the first intermission, the Roadrunners rallied back with a four-goal second period to defeat their I-8 Border Rivals by a score of 6-2. Six different Tucson skaters lit the lamp, as netminder Rasmus Korhonen stopped 16 of 18 shots faced on the other end to improve to 2-0 this year at the Tucson Arena.

Game #67: San Diego at Tucson

The Roadrunners will wrap up the 2021-2022 season with their final two games at the Tucson Arena against their I-8 Border Rivals, the San Diego Gulls. The series marks San Diego’s first trip to the Old Pueblo since October 29 and 30, 2021. The Roadrunners and Gulls will be battling for possession of the I-8 Border Trophy, with Tucson looking to clinch the trophy for the fifth-straight season with a pair of regulation wins.

San Diego, California – The Tucson Roadrunners concluded their final road trip of the season Saturday night as they took on their I-8 Border Rivals, the San Diego Gulls. After scoring the only goal through the first 55 minutes of play, the Roadrunners fell behind to San Diego late before the Gulls came away with a 3-1 victory. Colin Theisen recorded his fourth goal for Tucson in his 14th game since joining the roster from Arizona State University. The goal was possible because of a hustle play by forward Oliver Chau for his third assist in eight games since coming to the Roadrunners from Quinnipiac University. Rasmus Korhonen made his third start in net for Tucson since his AHL debut on April 10 and stopped 18 of 20 shots faced. Saturday night marked the first of three-straight meetings between the Roadrunners and Gulls to end the season, as they’ll face off Thursday and Friday at the Tucson Arena.

Game #66: Tucson at San Diego

The Roadrunners will round out their final road trip of the season Saturday night as they’ll take on the San Diego Gulls at the Pechanga Arena. Each of Tucson’s final three games of the 2021-2022 season will be against their I-8 Border Rivals beginning with Saturday night in San Diego, followed by a pair of contests at the Tucson Arena Thursday, April 28 and Friday, April 29.
