Game Recap: Tucson (3) at San Diego (5)

San Diego, California – The Tucson Roadrunners kicked off their second six-game road trip of 2022 Friday night against the San Diego Gulls at Pechanga Arena. The contest marked the third meeting between the I-8 Border Rivals on the season, as the Gulls defended their home ice with a 5-3 win over the visiting Roadrunners. Tucson’s top-two scorers Matias Maccelli (2a) and Mike Carcone (2g) each notched multiple-ponit performances, while goaltender Ivan Prosvetov stopped 20 shots on goal in his first start against San Diego on the year.

Game #35: Tucson at San Diego

The Tucson Roadrunners embark on another extended road trip beginning Friday night with the first of two games against the San Diego Gulls. The Roadrunners will be back at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego Friday and Saturday for the first time since February 7, 2020. The I-8 Border Rivals have split the season series so far at one win apiece, with six matchups remaining on the season. The Roadrunners won the most recent meeting with the Gulls on October 30 by a score of 6-4, backed by newly-named Captain Hudson Fasching’s five-point performance which included his second career AHL hat trick. The 26-year-old Fasching has been named Captain of the Tucson Roadrunners in his fourth season with the team, having appeared in 145 games with 87 points (40g 47a). His only two games with Tucson last season were against the San Diego Gulls at home on April 9 and 10, 2021.

Game Recap: Bakersfield (2) at Tucson (3) (OT)

Tucson, Arizona – The Roadrunners wrapped up their home series with the Bakersfield Condors in dramatic fashion Saturday night at the Tucson Arena. Tucson erased a two-goal deficit midway through the third period to force overtime, before Ben McCartney netted the game-winner for his second goal of the night. Saturday’s matchup was also Star Wars night at the Tucson Arena, as well as a Kachina Saturday. The second-largest crowd of the season, 5,323 fans came out to show their support for the Roadrunners, as well as their love for Star Wars.

Game #34: Bakersfield at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners conclude their three-game home series with the Bakersfield Condors Saturday night at the Tucson Arena. The Roadrunners will look to come out strong after a hard-fought battle Friday night that saw the Condors come away with a 5-4 victory. Saturday’s game marks Star Wars Night at the Tucson Arena, as Roadrunners Mascot Dusty will dress up for the special event.

Game Recap: Bakersfield (5) at Tucson (4)

Tucson, Arizona – The Roadrunners continued their three-game home stand against the Bakersfield Condors Friday night at the Tucson Arena, as the team donned their El Lazo de Tucson alternate identity, celebrating the rich culture and heritage of Southern Arizona. Tucson scored three special-teams goals in the contest, including a pair of power-play strikes in the first period by Jan Jenik and Cameron Hebig. The Roadrunners rallied late with a pair of goals in the final 7:34 of regulation but fell just short to the Condors by a score of 5-4.

Game #33: Bakersfield at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners continue their series with the Bakersfield Condors Friday night at the Tucson Arena. The Roadrunners will look to even up the series at one win apiece, after the Condors took the opener on Wednesday. Friday’s game will feature El Lazo de Tucson, the Roadrunners special identity celebrating the rich history and culture of Southern Arizona. Roadrunners Mascot Dusty will once again take on his “El Polvo” alter-ego, meaning “The Dust” in Spanish.

Game Recap: Bakersfield (6) at Tucson (2)

Tucson, Arizona – The Roadrunners returned to their home ice at the Tucson Arena Wednesday night as they played host to the Bakersfield Condors for the first time since January 2020. Tucson netted a power-play goal in the second period but fell to the Condors by a score of 6-2 in their first home contest since January 9. Three of the four Roadrunners that entered the night on point streaks of four games or more extended those streaks with contributions on the first goal of the game.

Game #32: Bakersfield at Tucson

The Tucson Roadrunners return home to conclude the month of January with a three-game series against the Bakersfield Condors. Wednesday’s game will mark the first time Tucson has hosted the Condors since January 25, 2020. Three players from that night’s Roadrunners roster remain with the team (Ivan Prosvetov, Hudson Fasching, Blake Speers), while current Tucson forward Cameron Hebig was on the other bench as a member of the Condors.

Ontario, California – The Roadrunners concluded their six-game road trip Sunday afternoon with the second of two weekend matchups against the Ontario Reign at the Toyota Arena. Both teams were effective on their power-play, with each unit scoring three goals while on the man advantage. Michael Carcone, Jan Jenik, Matias Maccelli, Vlad Kolyachonok and Travis Barron each extended their active point streaks of at least three games in the contest.

Game #31: Tucson at Ontario

The Tucson Roadrunners will play the final game of their two-week road trip Sunday afternoon, a rematch with the Ontario Reign at the Toyota Arena. The Reign took the first game of the series Saturday night, evening the overall season series at two wins apiece. The Roadrunners saw some key players return to the ice Saturday night, as forwards Blake Speers, Terry Broadhurst, and Ben McCartney all made their way back into the Tucson lineup.

Game Recap: Tucson (3) at Ontario (7)

Ontario, California – The Roadrunners continued their road trip to Southern California to face the fourth and final team on the trip, the Ontario Reign, Saturday night at the Toyota Arena. The Reign were relentless on the attack, backed by a Martin Frk hat trick, and handed the Roadrunners a 7-3 loss in the first of two matchups over the weekend in Ontario. Tucson recorded 25 shots on goal over their last two periods, with all three goals being scored from the second period onward.

Game #30: Tucson at Ontario

The Tucson Roadrunners begin the final weekend of their six-game road trip with a pair of games against the Ontario Reign at the Toyota Arena. Saturday’s game marks the first of the weekend, and first meeting between the Roadrunners and Reign since December 18, 2021, at the Toyota Arena. Tucson will look to stay perfect in Ontario this year with a win Saturday night.
