In five minutes of real time on Saturday night the Roadrunners went from trailing by one with 40 seconds to play to overtime winners as they met Stockton for the first of four times in the next fourteen days in a matchup of the top two teams in the Pacific Division.
Just 24 hours after Ivan Prosvetov and Oscar Dansk combined to go 55/58 en route to a 2-1 Wolves win, Erik Kallgren and Garret Sparks took their turn in a duo of strongly goaltended games Wednesday night at Tucson Arena.
Following Saturday’s overtime victory over Iowa, defenseman and overtime hero Jordan Gross remarked that “it’s the team’s goal to stay out of the penalty box” and for the Roadrunners “play their best at five-on-five”.
Tuesday night hockey in Tucson has a decent ring to it.

They say goals late in the period are “back-breakers” but a San Antonio tally with just over two minutes to play in Friday’s middle frame wound up being the exact opposite for Tucson, who ran off four in a row in the third to pick up their third straight win on Friday at Tucson Arena.
