Huge Home Series:
The Tucson Roadrunners find themselves in the biggest homestand of the season, just one point behind of the Bakersfield Condors and six points behind the sixth place Calgary Wranglers; Tucson’s next two opponents on the schedule. The Roadrunners are coming off a tough five-game road trip finishing 1-4-0-0 but look to rebound at home for the next four games. In the last eight home games, the team has fed off of the Tucson faithful with a 5-2-1-0 record; averaging a staggering 3.62 goals for per game. The Roadrunners have found success against both the Wranglers and Condors at the Tucson Arena this season; owning a 4-0-0-0 record and outscoring both opponents combined 16-10. Overall on the season, the Roadrunners have a 15-11-3-1 record at their home barn; averaging a 3.40 goals for per game and will highly benefit six of the last eight games of the season being in Tucson.

Killing Off The Extra Man:
Despite the tough road trip, the Roadrunners penalty-kill unit found ground again, going 17-for-20 (85%) in the five games: including 6-for-6 versus the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, March 26 in a 3-0 shutout victory. Tucson’s best PK line this season came all the way on December 28 versus the Colorado Eagles when the team went a perfect 7-for-7. When the Roadrunners are forced to kill off 6 power-plays or better, the team has an impressive 58-for-70 line (82%) when backed against the wall on the PK. In addition, the Roadrunners are 15-12-2-1 when not allowing a power-play goal to an opponent. The Roadrunners enter the next homestand with an 84.8% PK rate at home which is the second best in the Pacific Division and sixth best in the league.

Vets Came To Play:
Roadrunners Captain Austin Poganski finished off the recent road trip with five points (1 goal, 5 assists) reaching his scoring season to now 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points. The 34 points is now a single-season high for the six-year forward. Poganski matched his career high in points last season in his first full season with the San Antonio Rampage with 31 points: with 14 of them coming as goals in 2018-19. The 14 goals set a single-season career high and now the second-year Roadrunner is one goal away from matching that again. In addition, he is also just one assist away from matching a career high his rookie season at 22. Since joining Tucson in the 2023-24 season, Poganski has 65 points (27 goals,38 assists) in 126 games. Fellow captain Andrew Agozzino also had a good road trip with two goals and two assists for four total points including two multiple-point games. His most recent point, that was his 19th goal of the season, came also as his 40th point of the year, making it his fourth consecutive season tallying 40 points or better. Agozzino’s point-per-game average is at .85 in 47 games played, which is the best amongst active players on the team. In his 14-year AHL career, Agozzino has been one of the most consistent point getters with 620 points (264 goals, 356 assists) in 783 games, which is a .79 points-per-game pace.
